About:

Having graduated in Classics from Saint Andrew’s University, Scotland in 1992, Crispin Bonham Carter was wept straight into a stream of roles as beautiful young men in costume dramas. It started with his landing a part almost immediately after graduating in the Merchant Ivory production of E M Forster’s Howard’s End (1992), with Emma Thomson and Anthony Hopkins, and by the time he got to playing Mr Bingley in the acclaimed 1995 television version of Austen’s Pride and Prejudice he was well and truly set in the mould.

He has however recently managed to convince his public and the casting directors that he is very capable of acting without a cravat with roles in Jennifer Saunders’ hit television sit-com Absolutely Fabulous (2001), Auf Wiedersehen Pet (2004) and his latest role in the James Bond movie Casino Royale (2006).

He also directs extensively, with the London Academy of Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and Operating Theatre Company and was awarded the Jerwood Young Director’s Award by the Young Vic in 2001.

He is married to Katherine Dawnay and has four children.
