Julian Wyatt Glover was born in London in 1935. The son of a BBC radio producer, he was introduced to the theatre at an early age, beginning his theatrical career with the National Youth Theatre whilst still at school (with Timothy West, one of our other readers). He went on to train at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and proceeded to an award winning career in the British theatre particularly for his role as Henry IV in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s 1993 production of Henry IV, Parts I and II and Henry V. His film career has reached from his debut in Tony Richardson’s famed 1963 version of Tom Jones, to his practical cornering of the market in stone faced villains in such films as Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980), For Your Eyes Only (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). He was married to the actress Eileen Atkins until 1966 and is now married to the actress Isla Blair with whom he has a son Jamie, who is also a successful actor.
