Lucy Fleming is the daughter of Celia Johnson and the writer Peter Fleming, she is also the niece of Ian Fleming, whose literary estate she now runs with her sister Kate, so there was a fair likelihood that she would follow a somewhat artistic path. She chose to become an extremely successful actress and has managed to achieve that most rare of careers, one equally peppered with roles in classical series such as Pride and Prejudice (1967), Hay Fever (1968), The tragedy of King Richard II (1970) and A Dance to the Music of Time (1997) with major roles in several of the leading television comedy series. She is married to the actor Simon Williams, a fellow offspring of a celebrated actor, Hugh Williams.
