Born in London but brought up in Brighton, England, Natascha McElhone was the daughter of journalists who divorced when she was two. Her mother re-married and McElhone gained as a step-father the media columnist and commentator Roy Greenslade. She was trained at the London Academy of Music and Drama (LAMDA) and on leaving drama school worked solidly in a variety of theatrical roles in London and the regional theatres of Britain. She gained a wider fame when she played the artist’s mistress in the Anthony Hopkins’ film ‘Surviving Picasso’ (1996), her films since then have included ‘The Truman Show’(1998) with Jim Carrey, ‘Ronin’(1998) with Robert de Niro, ‘Feardotcom’ (2002), ‘Killing Me Softly’ (2002) and ‘Solaris’ (2002). She lives in London with her husband, Dr Martin Hirigoyen Kelly and they have two sons, Theo and Otis.
