Good news ! Silksoundbooks founder audio book reader and ambassador at large,
Bill Nighy is back on the silver screen. Well, to be totally accurate, he's actually on the soundtrack of the new animated movie
Astro Boy released today in the USA.
Set in the futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers. When his own son Toby dies, brilliant scientist Dr. Tenma
(the voice of Nicholas Cage) aided by his eccentric colleague Dr Elefun,
(voiced by Bill) creates a robot in his image.
But it seems that young Astro Boy is unable to fulfil the grieving scientist's expectations, so he embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save the world and be reconciled with the father who had rejected him.
The stars of the movie also include
Freddie Highmore,
Kristen Bell,
Matt Lucas,
Donald Sutherland, and
Charlize Theron, but unfortunately, those of us in the UK are going to have to wait until January 29th before Astro Boy is released on this side of the Atlantic.
Here at Silk Sound, we had a sneek preview of a few seconds of the movie when the British actors, Freddie, Matt and Bill came in to the studios to record some extra lines for the movie - we can't wait to see the finished result !
