Each May Day weekend, and in the week leading up to it, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival brings together a huge range of artists and musical styles in many locations around this beautiful English town. The festival has quickly found a vital place at the heart of the English jazz world and with backing from BBC Radio 2 it has consolidated that position over the last couple of years.

Tonight , Silksoundbooks star audiobook reader Colin Salmon hows another side to his talents as, trumpet in hand, he fronts own quartet in the super stylish confines of The Daffodil.

Despite spending the majority of his time traveling the world acting, Colin refuses to describe his music as a ‘hobby’, arguing that it is a passion which he takes seriously. His close friend, fellow Silksoundbooks reader and Jazz Festival President, Dame Judi Dench recognised this and stepped in to secure him a set at The Daffodil for the 2008 Festival, having previously seen his band perform at London’s Dorchester Hotel.
