All of us here at Silksoundbooks would like to wish a big Happy Birthday to our star audio book reader Lindsay Duncan who is celebrating today, the 7th November 1950.

Born in Scotland, Lindsay began her career in acting after finishing her studies at Central School of Speech and Drama in London. After playing minor roles, her talent was spotted and she soon began appearing in renowned London stage, screen and television productions.
Recently, we have enjoyed her performances in the TV series Merlin and Tim Burton's amazing movie Alice in Wonderland.

Lindsay has won two Laurence Olivier Awards, a Tony award and has been nominated for many others and was appointed CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2009 Birthday Honours list.

Her Silksoundbooks unabridged audio book The Garden Party, written by Katherine Mansfield
has often been held up as an example of the near perfect short story, and Lindsay Duncan’s performance of it is has been described as 'nothing short of spectacular'.
